Kitchen Cupboard Deodorant Recipe

As requested...

Mix 2 Tablespoons each of baking soda and cornstarch with a Tablespoon of melted coconut oil. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil (we used lime and clove) and if you want, a little bit of Vitamin E or sweet almond oil. (I punctured one of the Vitamin E capsules from the medicine cabinet!) Then pour the mixture immediately into a clean solid deodorant container (or a tiny pot with a lid). Place somewhere cool so it can set up. There are lots of variations of this recipe on the internet. We looked at the following for recipe and ideas:
Little House in the Suburbs
The Angry Chicken
Kitchen Stewardship

Tips:

Don't try to microwave all the contents at once like I did the first time. The cornstarch will cook and the result is not pretty! Melt the oil first, then add the dry ingredients and the essential oil last. These amounts will give you a small tester batch. If you try it, let me know what you think!

Coconut oil has a low melting point, so in the summer, you'll want to keep this in the fridge or you may have a bit of a goopy mess in your deodorant tube.
