Vacation

I am finally taking vacation!!! Technically, it's already started, but Thursday night I should be getting on a bus and travelling six or eight hours to Sorocaba, where I'll be visiting with a friend of mine and enjoying the holidays with her and her family. So I'll be pretty much out of contact for a bit, as my cell will be on roaming and I don't know what my internet access will be like. But I should be back by the 5th or so...

These pictures are from our Christmas weekend:

There's me and the scary mechanical reindeer at the Rio Sul shopping mall, a behemoth temple of consumption that's so large people forget what floor they're on...

Tiago playing Papai Noel...

And Tiago after a day in the sweltering Christmas heat...isn't he cute?!

Hey Jenna, this is Hilary, I am working in the WMF Omaha office. I got your blog info from Daphne and I loved looking at your pictures and reading your posts!
A little piece of me wishing your Christmas story could be the one that is told before the fire dies down on Christmas Eve night.
My heart was breaking for you as you walked through the details of that day. But it was with each turn in the story and as the events of the day made themselves known that I pushed myself through the crowds of people, walked through the dog's mess, and cried in front of the cold stove. You have such a gift - I was able to be at your Christmas because of how beautifully you articulated that day! Thank you! I loved being a part of your untraditional and very eventful celebration!
How has the retreat been for you? Are you finding yourself being renewed? I hope that the time away is truly refreshing and just really good for you!
I look forward to hearing from you!
Hilary
