The crazies are out again...

The Republicans are the Democrat's best friend this year. Are the Democrats donating to the campaigns of guys like Missouri's Todd Akin? Because if they could get guys like him even more time behind a microphone, the elections are sealed in their favor!

Akin's making the news for saying in an interview that "legitimate rapes" rarely cause pregnancy, so the legality of abortion in cases of rape is really a moot point. Did the senatorial candidate skip 8th grade health class? Fascinating stuff. Who knew that after all the research and investigation done over the years on the human body and the intricacies of the female reproductive system, that scientists and medical professionals completely missed the part about how the female body has "ways to try to shut that whole thing down." That's how most people in the field refer to the process of conception: "that whole thing." It's like a switch, you just turn it on or turn it off. Of course, if you "asked for it" or are a verifiable slut, I suppose there's no way to access that switch.

It's telling, of course, that Akin barely uses the word "woman" in the course of the discussion. He talks about the generic "victims" and the rapist and the "female body," but never discusses the actual victim. Because when you're really, really concerned about the interaction of sperm and egg, the vessel in which such contact occurs is secondary. Throwaway, even.

Let's add a new word to the definition of a politician: liar, cheat, thief, and idiot ...

so........I thought of you, when I heard all his nonsense, wondering what you would think. You said it all very well.
Part that puzzled me, was the various folks, including Romney, who came out of the woodwork to say that they weren't necessarily against abortion in cases of rape. I thought the whole reason behind being against abortion was the life begins at conception thing., so, children of rape don't count that way? (I am not saying they do, or they don't, was just confused why there could be "support" for abortion in cases of rape given the official reasons to be against abortion)..
but,is good to know that in those legitimate rapes that nature steps in and shuts that whole thing down.........

A crime is a crime. But abortion is a thing most of the victim.
